Description
A delightful twist on the classic green bean casserole, enriched with a creamy, garlic-infused sauce and topped with crunchy fried onions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup fried onions
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Trim the ends of the green beans and set them aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until translucent.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until tender. Stir in heavy cream, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add the green beans and coat them in the creamy mixture. Transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with fried onions, and bake for 25-30 minutes until heated through and golden on top. Serve warm.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half and half for heavy cream. You can add a splash of cream when reheating leftovers for moisture.
