Description

A delightful dish featuring crispy tofu coated in a tangy, sweet sauce with fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • 1 bell pepper (red or green)
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into cubes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove the tofu and set it aside.
  3. Add onions and garlic to the same skillet. Sauté until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Then, add bell peppers and pineapple, stir-frying for a few minutes until just tender.
  4. Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl until smooth. Pour the sauce into the skillet, stirring until it thickens.
  5. Add the tofu back to the skillet, coating it with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, and enjoy!

Notes

For extra crispiness, toss the tofu cubes in cornstarch before frying. Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of brown sugar.
