Description

A hearty and comforting beef stew filled with tender chunks of beef and hearty vegetables, perfect for chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef stew meat, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the beef stew meat to the pot and brown on all sides.
  3. Add the chopped onion, sliced carrots, and diced potatoes. Cook until softened.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then add the bay leaf. Bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 90-120 minutes or until the beef is tender.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. If desired, mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry, stir into the pot, and cook until thickened.
  9. Remove bay leaf before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, use beef chuck and allow the stew to simmer for a longer time. Customize vegetables based on your preference.
