Description

Red velvet cookies featuring a soft, chewy texture and a delightful cream cheese frosting, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Milk (as needed to adjust frosting consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until set around the edges. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
  8. For frosting, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth, then gradually mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
  9. Add a splash of milk to the frosting if needed to achieve desired consistency.
  10. Once the cookies are cool, frost each one generously with cream cheese icing.
