Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chai tea, brewed and cooled
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom until well combined.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl, mix heavy cream, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract, and cooled chai tea. Stir into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, and pat into a circle about 1 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into wedges and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.
Notes
Best served fresh with tea or coffee. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
