Description

A tangy and satisfying dish featuring seitan in a bright, zesty lemon sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block of seitan, sliced
  • 1/4 cup flour (for dredging)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons capers
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • Juice and zest of 2 lemons
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Dredge the seitan slices in flour, shaking off the excess.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the seitan slices to the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Remove the seitan from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add capers, vegetable broth, lemon juice, and lemon zest, scraping up any browned bits.
  5. Return the seitan to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for a few minutes until heated through and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Serve garnished with chopped parsley.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, allow it to simmer longer. Fresh lemons provide a brighter flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
