Description
A delightful dish combining orzo pasta, tender chicken, and a rich, creamy sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Add orzo and toast for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Pour in chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook until orzo is al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in cooked chicken and heavy cream. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Remove from heat and mix in parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream. Customize with vegetables like spinach or peas, or substitute chicken with shrimp or turkey.
