- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cherry preserves
- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare ungreased cookie sheets.
- Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating in vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until just combined.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on prepared cookie sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Make a small indentation in each ball with your thumb and fill with cherry preserves.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until cookies are set. Cool on wire racks. If desired, drizzle melted chocolate over cooled cookies.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Unbaked dough can be frozen for up to 3 months.
