- 4 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Peel and slice the apples into wedges.
- In an oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and stir continuously until it turns golden brown (5-7 minutes).
- Add the apple slices to the caramel and cook gently for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- Roll out the puff pastry and place it over the apples, tucking the edges down.
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly, then invert onto a serving plate and serve warm.
Notes
Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
