- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup dried cherries
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and dried cherries.
- Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space for spreading.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are firm; centers may look slightly soft.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
